What is IELTS Test?
IELTS Test is an English test to check your proficiency in English Language and it stands for International English Language Training System. To be eligible for pursuing studies abroad, a student has to pass either of the English proficiency tests to obtain their desired degree or course and IELTS is one of them. You should first set a target of bands to hold on to, as it will help you to achieve your desired band score. I will suggest you set a target of 0.5 higher than your desired score.
IELTS is of two different types:
1. Academic test is for those students who want to go abroad to pursue their education in their field of interest.
2. General training is for those candidates who want to move abroad on a working visa, especially to Canada, Australia
Both the modules are almost similar, the differences lie in two modules which are Reading and Writing Task 1. The rest of the modules which are Listening, and Speaking are identical for both types of tests.
There are two mediums to give your IELTS test:
1. Pen and paper-based IELTS Test:
You must write down all the answers and essays with a pencil and should not use a pen as it will create difficulty in erasing mistakes. And use a lead pencil than the regular one as it will save you time from sharpening it frequently.
2. Computer-Delivered IELTS Test:
Computer -Delivered IELTS, in which you have to type all the answers on the screen.
Consistent practice is the key to excelling in this test.
– The speaking test is identical for both types.
– The IELTS Test result of a pen and paper-based test takes a minimum of 13 days to be declared officially whereas you will get the result of the computer-based exam within 4 to 5 working days. Those candidates who have decent typing speed and complete the tasks on time should opt Computer based test. Unlike pen and paper-based tests, you will not get extra 10 minutes after completing your listening module.
– But first, to initiate your practice of the IELTS Test, you should grasp some common grammar topics which will help you to boost your grammatical skills to avoid common grammatical errors in your modules, especially in Writing and Speaking.
– In India, All IELTS tests are to be delivered by IDP from 25th July
